Inspired by Japanese architecture, this pergola has a more organic feel. The large timber look alludes to Japanese style pergolas, and we used black satin finish paint to give it an upscale look. With wire mesh at the top and wisteria plants at each post, walking under this pergola during mid- to late- spring is reminiscent of fragrant cherry blossoms and romantic florals.
The path winding underneath is crushed purple trap rock. This adds a subtle pop of color at the bottom to balance the wisteria blooms at the top, and the crushed rock gives a softer walking path underfoot. The curves and dips in the path have stones to emulate a bit of the yin and yang symbol, tying the theme together top to bottom.
