How much does it cost to remodel my home?

Well, here’s a handy document released by Remodeling–the news, products and advice standard for professional remodelers. You can evaluate the type of remodel you’re considering with how much it adds to the home’s long term value.

Q
When is the best time to remodel my home?
AHome remodeling can be performed year-round, depending on the project. Renovation or remodeling of interior spaces can usually be completed any time of the year, though there are aspects of projects that can be weather dependent. For example, when completing a home addition, foundation or footing, we can only complete the work when the weather is above freezing temperatures.

During your initial consultation we can answer any questions you have about timelines of your project.

Q
Can I email you links and pictures of ideas?
AOf course! You can send over current pictures and plans at any point after we set your initial consultation date. If you do not have any–no worries at all! While it is encouraged, it’s not required.
Q
What tips do you have for selecting a remodeling company?
AIt’s important to see your Builder in the same light as your Doctor, Lawyer or Accountant. They solve problems in a critical area of your life that you’re either not trained for or don’t have the time to solve because you’re making your living in other areas. In the end, choose the most competent person you can find, hire someone you really trust, and stick with them.  We recommend contacting/interviewing 3 builders and see which one leaves you Inspired to do the project.
Q
Why should I choose Inspire Renovations?
AWe hope that you will take our recommendation of interviewing three builders, after which we are confident that it will be apparent Inspire Renovations is the right choice. Our passion for creativity is infectious and our calm professionalism garners trust quickly. But don’t take our word for it–check out these testimonials.
Q
Is working with a professional remodeler worth the money?
AIf you have a renovation project in mind, now you must decide: will you hire a remodeler or do the job yourself? The chance to save money is the biggest reason homeowners consider DIY remodeling.

However, this could end up being the wrong decision if you can’t answer “yes” to all of the following questions:

  • Do you have the time?
  • Can you stay motivated to see the project through?
  • Do you have the skills, tools, and experience?
  • Are you certified to complete the necessary plumbing, electrical, and HVAC work?
  • Are you able to obtain the necessary and correct permits for this project?
  • Do you have architectural plans to present to the township?
  • Do you have the skillset to tackle any unforeseen problems?

In the end, you can save time, avoid headaches, prevent costly mistakes, and ensure a professional job well done when you leave your home remodeling project to Inspire Renovations.

ABring all your ideas, photos and samples of your ideal dream space. Feel free to write down any questions you may have! We love to look at pictures and/or drawings of your dreams and ideas! Pinterest is a great way to show us what you envision.

Let us know if you have any special plans or time frames you would like us to take into consideration (delivery due dates, holidays, hosting events at your home etc). We will send out a project discovery questionnaire via email prior to the consultation that will help you on preparation and what to expect.

Q
Do you offer weekend or evening appointments?
ACurrently, we have daytime availability during normal working hours. We are a family-owned business, so we understand the importance of sending our team home to enjoy evenings and weekends with their families.
Q
Why is it important to have all the decision makers of the project at the consultation meeting when you come out?
AWe strongly encourage anyone that wants to be part of the process of the remodel to attend the first appointment. This way, we can answer everyone’s questions and take into consideration opinions and ideas from all parties as well as come up with a comfortable budget range for all involved.
Q
Will I receive my estimate the day of my consultation?
AWe will be able to give a rough budget range based on the initial meeting and from there will work out an agreement to prepare a fixed price contract.

See our Process page for more information!

Q
Should I plan more money than the contract price?
AWe take time with our clients during the design process to help understand costs associated with your project. We also do our best to identify any options you may choose in the future and include pricing for those options in our proposal.

Typically, when we sign a contract with our client, we hold true to the contracted price. We take the time to go over every detail of your project to ensure the cost is accurate. If there is any additional work or changes made to the project by the homeowner, this could be an additional charge. We will go over the new changes with you before any charges are incurred with a change order form.

Q
Do you require a large down payment to start the project?
AWe do require 5% of the low end of the budget range for design work. Once that is done we compile a fixed price contract with multiple progress payments for your peace of mind. The progress payments are set up to coincide with project milestones so everyone is on the same page.

In order to streamline the process for our clientele, we follow a detailed process. At our first meeting we will go over a typical contract payment schedule with our presentation booklet.

Q
How long are you booked out? When can you start?
AWe can start the design process right away. When you sign the letter of intent, that holds a spot on our calendar for your job. Once all the design/permits/material ordering is done, we can go straight into the construction phase with very little time overlap.
Q
How long will my project take?
ADuring our complimentary consultation with you, we will discuss the expected duration of your project. The key element in completing your project in a timely manner is for you to be available during the process so you can select your products. In addition, we will need full access to your home during the remodel during regular working hours (Monday through Friday 8am – 5pm). We will not begin work on your home until all the materials have been received. Our company policy is to stay on your project until completion once we have started construction.

The length of a kitchen or bathroom renovation depends on the scope of the project itself. Some remodeling projects are done in as little as 15 days, while a full tear-out and renovation might take closer to 45 days to complete.

Q
What if my job is small? Do I still have to complete all these steps in the process?
ANot at all! The best part of the whole process is that we can scale up or down to meet your needs. Sometimes it’s a simple design and fixed price contract the same day, and sometimes it’s a large design with multiple facets. Just let us know what you want, and we’ll do our best to accommodate!
Q
Does someone need to be home during the day when we are under construction?
ANo. We install a lock box on site so our craftsmen can come and go as necessary.
Q
Do you offer a warranty?
AYes! we offer 3 year warranty on our quality workmanship, as well as passing along manufacture warranties, some of which are lifetime warranties.
